Explore a city of silver and a church of bones with this fascinating trip to the historical town of Kutná Hora. Founded in the 13th century, Kutná Hora was once the richest and most powerful city in Bohemia, famous for its silver mines. After suffering through war, fire and the exhaustion of the silver seams, Kutná Hora is once again celebrated as a Unesco World Heritage site for its beautiful architecture and historic importance, you will realize while walking through the historical centre of the town. Then visit the former royal mint which once coined Prague groschen, the hard currency of Central Europe at the time. Candelabras, chalices and coats of arms are just some of the eerie relics on display in this unique ossuary, which was constructed by a half-blind monk charged with exhuming the overflowing graveyard in the 14th century.
