Bird Paradise Singapore

Bird Paradise Singapore: A Complete Visitor Guide (2026)

Singapore offers a blend of city sights, nature reserves, and wildlife parks. Mandai Wildlife Reserve brings many of these parks together in one place. Its newest addition, Bird Paradise Singapore, features walk-through aviaries inspired by habitats from around the world. With over 3,500 birds from more than 400 species, the park provides a full day of wildlife experiences for all ages.

This guide includes details on Bird Paradise tickets, the best aviaries, bird shows, feeding sessions, how to get there, and useful tips to help you plan your visit.

What Is the Bird Paradise?

Image

Bird Paradise Singapore opened in May 2023 as the successor to Jurong Bird Park, which had operated at a separate site in Jurong from 1971 to 2022. The new park is located at Mandai Wildlife West, 20 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore 729825, within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

Spanning 17 hectares, it is described by the Mandai Wildlife Group as Asia's largest bird park. The park is built around 8 large thematic aviaries, each designed to replicate a specific biome: African rainforests, South American wetlands, Southeast Asian paddy fields, Australian eucalyptus forests, and more. Penguin Cove houses four penguin species (King, Gentoo, Humboldt, and Northern Rockhopper). The Winged Sanctuary is dedicated to rare and threatened species.

Many people searching for 'Bird of Paradise Singapore' are looking for this park. The Mysterious Papua aviary is the most relevant section, as it features birds from New Guinea, including palm cockatoos and Nicobar pigeons. New Guinea is the native home of the true birds-of-paradise species.

Which Aviaries Should You Visit?

The eight themed aviaries are the main attraction at Bird Paradise Singapore. Each one recreates a different natural habitat and is home to birds suited to that environment. Here’s a quick overview of all eight before we dive into the highlights:

  1. Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands
  2. Rwanda Nyungwe Forest Heart of Africa
  3. Kuok Group Wings of Asia
  4. Amazonian Jewels
  5. Songs of the Forest
  6. Lory Loft
  7. Mysterious Papua
  8. Shaw Foundation Australian Outback

Hong Leong Foundation Crimson Wetlands

Image

Crimson Wetlands, inspired by South America’s flooded wetlands, is one of the most eye-catching parts of Bird Paradise Singapore.

The centrepiece is a 20-metre indoor waterfall, modelled on the San Juan Curi waterfall in Colombia. Around the waterfall, you'll find scarlet macaws, red-and-green macaws, scarlet ibises, roseate spoonbills, and large flocks of American flamingos.

  • This is the only aviary in the park built without internal support beams, so birds can fly freely overhead without any obstacles.
  • Macaws are often seen flying low over the walkways.
  • Crimson Restaurant inside this aviary offers views over the flamingo wetlands.

Rwanda Nyungwe Forest Heart of Africa

Image

Heart of Africa is the largest aviary in the park, covering 1.55 hectares. It is modelled on the forest valleys of Rwanda and features elevated suspension bridges, elevated boardwalks, and an observation tower at the far end.

  • Home to 80 African bird species, including grey parrots, red-crested turacos, and white superb starlings
  • The elevated walkways bring you to canopy level, so you are often watching birds at eye level rather than from below.
  • An observation tower at the end gives a view across the entire aviary.

At Birds Paradise Singapore, this aviary hosts the Starling and Weavers feeding session twice daily at 9:30am and 2pm (SGD 8 per person), where you can hand-feed mealworms to starlings and fruit to colourful turacos.

Lory Loft

Image

Lory Loft houses more than 20 species of lories, lorikeets, and cockatoos. These birds are very interactive, often flying close to the walkways and perching nearby on their own.

  • Unlike in most other aviaries, the lories here are used to people and often hover near the paths.
  • You’ll see bright colours here, including yellow-mantled chattering lories, dusky lories, and blue-streaked lories.
  • The Lories and Lorikeets feeding session runs twice daily at 11am and 3:30pm (SGD 8 per person); guests use a cup of homemade nectar to feed the birds at close range.

Lory Loft is one of the most hands-on and engaging parts of the park for visitors of any age.

Mysterious Papua

Image

Mysterious Papua is designed after the landscapes of New Guinea. It is home to some of the park's largest and most striking birds, including the southern cassowary, palm cockatoos, salmon-crested cockatoos, and Nicobar pigeons.

If you’re looking for the Bird of Paradise in Singapore, this is the aviary to visit. New Guinea is home to the true birds-of-paradise family (Paradisaeidae), and the Papua aviary showcases the region’s unique birdlife, including some of the park’s most striking species.

At Birds Paradise Singapore, the Cassowary feeding session at Mysterious Papua runs once daily at 1pm (SGD 8 per person).

What Bird Shows and Feeding Sessions Are Available?

Bird Paradise Singapore offers two daily bird shows at the PropNex Sky Amphitheatre. You don’t need to reserve seats, but it’s best to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early, especially on weekends.

Bird Presentations

Each show lasts about 15 to 20 minutes and takes place at the Sky Amphitheatre. This open-air venue is designed so birds can fly longer distances than at the old Jurong Bird Park.

  • Predators on Wings: Features the White-bellied Sea Eagle, Turkey Vultures, and Harris's Hawk; showcases natural hunting behaviours and flight patterns. Showtimes: 10:30am and 2:30pm
  • Wings of the World: Features parrots, pied hornbills, and a free-flying flock that demonstrates speed and agility; audience members, including children, may be invited to participate. Showtimes: 12:30pm and 5pm

Always check the official Mandai app or website before your visit, as showtimes are subject to change.

What Tips Should You Know Before Visiting?

Bird Paradise Singapore is mostly outdoors and easy to get around, but a few practical tips can help make your visit smoother.

  • Arrive early: The park opens at 9am, and mornings are cooler and less busy. The Lory feeding at 11am is popular, so arriving by 9:30am gives you a better chance of joining.
  • Book feeding sessions ahead: All four sessions are first-come, first-served. The Lories and Lorikeets feedings at 11am and 3:30pm are especially popular, so book on the official website before you go.
  • Download the Mandai app: It helps you navigate the park in real time, sends reminders before each show, and keeps schedules up to date.
  • Photography rules: Personal photography and video are allowed throughout the park. Flash photography is not permitted. Crimson Wetlands and Lory Loft offer the best natural light for photos.
  • Rain is okay: Since most of the park is outdoors, bring a small umbrella or poncho. Light rain can make some birds more active, especially in the walk-through aviaries, so visiting on a rainy day can be a nice surprise.
  • Check the official website before visiting: Confirm the latest Bird Paradise ticket price, any maintenance closures, and current seasonal promotions before your travel date.

What Can You Do After Your Visit?

Bird Paradise Singapore usually takes about 4 to 5 hours to cover at a relaxed pace. You can easily add one or two more attractions to your day, depending on your plans and energy level.

Within Mandai Wildlife Reserve

River Wonders is the most practical same-day pairing with Birds Paradise Singapore. It sits on the Mandai East side, connected by the complimentary inter-park shuttle. The park is smaller and less physically demanding than Singapore Zoo, covering giant pandas, manatees, dugongs, and the Amazon River Quest boat ride. Allow 2 to 3 hours.

Night Safari is a good choice if you plan to stay in Mandai through the evening. The park opens at 7:15pm and is ticketed separately. It operates tram tours and walking trails through naturalistic habitats after dark. Book in advance, as it is one of the most popular Mandai parks for evening visits.

Singapore Zoo and Rainforest Wild Adventure are both on the Mandai East side. Pairing it with Bird Paradise in one day is possible, but it can be physically demanding in Singapore's heat. These parks are better suited to a two-day Mandai plan or to standalone full-day visits on a separate day.

Back in the City

Spectra Light and Water Show at the Marina Bay Sands event plaza is a free nightly show running at 8pm and 9pm, with an additional 10pm show on Fridays and Saturdays. It runs for about 15 minutes and can be viewed from multiple points along the Marina Bay waterfront. A convenient evening activity after returning from Mandai.

Gardens by the Bay offers free outdoor access to Supertree Grove. The Garden Rhapsody light show runs nightly at 7:45pm and 8:45pm, with the Supertrees lighting up in sync with music. Entry to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome conservatories requires a separate ticket. Both are a relaxing way to end your day after visiting Bird Paradise.

Are there restaurants inside Bird Paradise?

ExpandCollapse

Yes. There are several dining options inside the park, including Food Central (local and international dishes), Crimson Restaurant (views over the flamingo wetlands), Penguin Cove Restaurant (buffet with penguin viewing), and Bird Bakery near the entrance.
