A bridge high up in the mountains held by two giant hands - the Golden Bridge in Vietnam is more than just an Instagram favourite. Even though it is not a historic site or monument, its well-executed contemporary architecture and the scenic views it offers make it worth adding to your Vietnam travel list. Whether you are planning a Vietnam holiday or curious about the ‘hands bridge’ that shows up on your feed every now and then, this guide covers 10 things you need to know about the Golden Bridge Vietnam - from its location and design to the best time to visit and travel tips to help you plan your day there.
The Golden Bridge, known locally as the Cầu Vàng, is a 150-metre pedestrian walkway in Vietnam, managed by Sun World. This full-on Vietnamese creative project opened in June 2018 and quickly gained global attention for its unique architecture. It is not the only attraction at Ba Na Hills but one of the many.

Talking about the Golden Bridge will be incomplete without discussing the idea of the two hands holding the bridge. Even though they look like they are made out of weathered ancient stone, they are all fibreglass and wire mesh. The designers purposely executed that to get the contrast with the modern golden walkway to showcase the inspiration for the bridge - ‘giant hands of gods pulling a strip of gold out of the land’. This is where everyone imagines getting their perfect instagram-worthy photo.
The Golden Bridge is a part of the Ba Na Hills, a mountain resort and entertainment complex situated about 25-30 km southwest of the city and is at an altitude of 1414 metres above sea level. It is not located directly within Da Nang city; visitors reach the Ba Na Hills resort base, then cross the bridge via the cable car system. In short, you cannot visit the Golden Bridge without entering the resort.
Reaching the Golden Bridge involves two parts of travel: a drive to the Ba Na Hills from Da Nang, then a cable car ride to the Golden Bridge at the top. Accessing the Golden Bridge by road is not possible, as it is located within the resort.
The only way up to the bridge is via the resort's cable car. The ride up takes around 15-20 minutes, while you can catch the views of the forest and waterfalls. You will need to take the cable car from Hoi An Station to Marseille Station to reach the Golden Bridge area directly.
Tribe Travel Tip: Signage at the base can be limited, so make sure you take the right cable line to avoid unnecessary walking around the resort.
One important thing for you to know is that, there is no ticket just for the Golden Bridge. You have to buy a ticket for the Sun World Resort that includes entry to the bridge. The ticket also covers the cable car ride and several other attractions at the Ba Na Hills.

Months | Weather | Crowd Level | Notes |
Feb - April | Cool and dry | Moderate | Best overall; Tulip Festival in Feb–March |
May - Aug | Warm, some humidity | High | Clear skies, good visibility |
Sept - Jan | Rainy, frequent fog | Lower | Views can be fully obscured; check forecast |
February is considered the best time to visit because of the cool mountain climate, blooming tulips, and dry weather, whereas March brings colour to the gardens at the Ba Na Hills.
For good visibility, May to August is best, since there will not be much fog, but this is also the time of large crowds, especially around Vietnamese holidays.
If you are visiting between September and January, be ready not to even see the Golden Bridge, as fog at that altitude is a different condition than rain in the valley. Check the weather in Ba Na Hills specifically before visiting, not just that in Da Nang city.
Try to reach the Golden Bridge early in the morning, before 9 AM via the first cable car at 8 AM (may operate from 7AM during dry season)to avoid huge crowds rushing to click photographs at the bridge. You can also enjoy cool weather and click photographs in soft natural light.
If the weather allows, 5 PM to 6 PM is also a good time to watch the sunset at the bridge without the rush, since most people leave around that time.
Standing on a unique design, enjoying the mountains nearby, the clouds passing overhead, and the valleys below you is itself the most amazing experience you can have at the Golden Bridge. In addition to the dramatic and peaceful mood, the blooming chrysanthemum flowers and elegant rail combine modern architecture with nature’s breathtaking beauty. You may expect mist and fog at any time of the day. Soft sunlight, cool breeze and fog - you may experience all these in a single visit.
Most visitors take 45-60 minutes to cover this attraction, but if you arrive before the crowds, you can comfortably cover the bridge in 30 minutes. The Golden Bridge also connects the cable car station to the Thien Thai Garden area.
Yes, the Golden Bridge lives up to the expectations for sure. It is much more than just the social-media hype; it is about striking design, the scenic environment and the dramatic mood it sets. You reach there by an adventurous cable car ride, click photos at the elevated setting and enjoy rides at the Fantastic Park, it becomes a visit worth it undoubtedly. Expectations do matter here; if you are expecting a peaceful, scenic visit and to click pictures without anyone photo-bombing you, try to visit early morning or on weekdays. The weather can change at any second, so do not expect pleasant weather the whole time you are there; it may or may not be possible. In short, if you do not have unrealistic expectations set by social media, this experience is worth it.
The Golden Bridge is the most hyped but it is not the only thing you can do while visiting Ba Na Hills. You can plan an entire day there combining various attractions.
