Imagine over 7,000 islands clustered together with white sand beaches, blue lagoons you can swim in and all the water activities you could think of. That’s basically the Philippines in a nutshell. There’s no wonder why this place is increasingly showing up on everyone’s bucket list, but covering the Philippines is no easy task; that’s why in this guide you’ll find the best places to visit in Philippines alongside their top attractions and how to get there in the easiest way possible.
There are only a few places in the world where you’ll get to witness everything that you can see in the Philippines. hidden lagoons in Palawan, white sand beaches in Boracay, wildlife encounters in Bohol and Cebu, and world-class surfing in Siargao. Combine that with delicious Philippine food, friendly locals who speak English, and easy visa convenience, and you’ll see why the Philippines' main attractions are worth a whole vacation.
With the huge number of islands that make up the Philippines, it’s easy to get confused about which places you should be visiting. So for your convenience here’s a quick overview before we get into what makes each one of them special:
Places | Highlights |
Palawan | Lagoons, limestone cliffs, underground river |
Boracay | White Beach, water sports, nightlife |
Bohol | Chocolate Hills, tarsiers |
Cebu | Whale sharks, waterfalls, heritage sites |
Siargao | Surfing, lagoons, island hopping |

When you're creating your Philippines itinerary, Palawan is a must-add to your list because this place looks like nowhere else on Earth.
The limestones of El Nido rise straight out of the sea, and a bit of island hopping will take you to the Big Lagoon, a hidden lagoon that’s perfect for a swim.
Dive through World War II shipwrecks or float above on Kayangan Lake’s clear water in Coron, and you can see history underwater.
And in Puerto Princesa, you can paddle through the Underground River, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Both El Nido and Coron have their own small airports, with direct flights from Clark International Airport near Manila, as well as from Cebu.
To get between El Nido and Coron, you’ll need to take a fast-craft ferry, which’ll take around 4 hours and pass some of Palawan's most scenic coastlines along the way.

Boracay is famous for its White Beach, a four-kilometre stretch of soft sand and turquoise water where most of your days will be spent.
Beyond the beach, you can try para sailing on a traditional outrigger boat, snorkel around Crystal Cove Island, or hike out at dusk to see thousands of flying foxes leave the island's bat caves.
Getting here is simple. You fly into Caticlan or Kalibo airport, then take a short boat ride across to the island itself.
Once you are settled in, White Beach is easily walkable end to end, so you can split your days between beach time in the morning, water sports in the afternoon, and dinner at the beachfront restaurants in the evening.
Bohol earns its spot on this list because of its Chocolate Hills, a stretch of over a thousand cone-shaped hills that turn brown in the dry season and look almost unreal from the viewing deck.
It is also home to the Philippine tarsier, one of the smallest primates in the world, which you can see up close at a local sanctuary, as well as beaches and river cruises.
Bohol is well connected by flights into Panglao International Airport, and most of the island's highlights sit close enough together for a single-day tour that covers the Chocolate Hills, the tarsier sanctuary, and a lunch cruise along the Loboc River.
If you want adventure alongside your beach time,Cebu is a must-go. You can canyon down the falls at Kawasan, jump between natural pools along the way, or swim with whale sharks in nearby Oslob, a rare wildlife encounter you’ll almost never experience anywhere on Earth.
Cebu is one of the easiest islands to reach, with a major international airport that connects directly to several cities.
Cebu City makes a good first stop for a bit of history at Magellan's Cross, before you head south toward Oslob and Kawasan Falls, which are usually visited together as a full-day adventure.
If you’re a fan of waves, Siargao is known as the surfing capital of the Philippines, and Cloud 9 draws surfers from all around the world.
Even if you do not surf, you can spend a day at Sugba Lagoon, kayaking across still, clear water framed by mangroves, or island-hop to nearby sandbars.
Siargao has its own airport with regular flights from Manila and Cebu, so it is easy to add to your Philippines holiday. Renting a scooter is the easiest way to get around once you land, since Cloud 9, Sugba Lagoon, and the rock pools are all spread through different parts of the island.
If you are trying to fit more than one island into your holiday, here is a rough guide on how much time you can give to each place.
Palawan (El Nido and Coron) | 4-5 days |
Boracay | 2-3 days |
Bohol | 2 days |
Cebu | 2-3 days |
Siargao | 3 days |
Tribe Travel Tip: If your holiday is a week or shorter, stick to one region rather than trying to cover them all, since domestic flight connections can eat into your time.
The best time to visit the Philippines is during the dry season, roughly November to April, so you’ll get reliable sunshine and calm seas for your island hopping.
May onward gets hot and humid, and June through October is the wet season, with a higher chance of typhoons.
Tribe Travel Tip: If you like travelling in a less crowdy area, planning your vacation in early November or April, right at the edges of the dry season, usually means fewer crowds with a low risk of rain.
From June 2025, Indian passport holders can enter the Philippines visa-free for holidays of up to 14 days.
Keeping that in mind, there are still a few requirements you’ll need to keep in mind before applying for your Philippines visa.
From the lagoons of Palawan to the surf breaks of Siargao, the Philippines has a variety of places that are hard to beat.
Whether you want quiet nature, an easy beach base, or a mix of adventure along with wildlife, there are places to visit in the Philippines that fit exactly what you are looking for.
